Everyone loves music, but did you know that it can also be used for children who have learning and cognitive disabilities? Autism is one disability that many children must live with, but music therapy can help. Many autistic children use songs and singing to help with their monotonic speech. This works by matching the rhythms, flow, and inflection in a song. Many children have expressed happier moods and feelings after music therapy. Also, many parents have stated that they see their children’s play improved after a session. Music has also been shown to help autistic children with their communication and social skills from the singing and dancing. This therapy can give them the desire to learn an instrument, also helping them with communication as well as the ability to develop a new skill. This therapy is also helpful because it gets the children interacting with things around them, and could help them reduce their shyness. Music is also a great emotional outlet, and can give the child a sense of fulfillment. Different children require different methods to help them, and finding a good therapist can be beneficial to an autistic child. Most autistic children do not participate in regular activities, and their social skills are typically lacking. Music is a great way to help them open up, and give them the ability to express themselves fully. There is a reason we as people love music, and now see that its effects on children are remarkable.
