At-home remedies for headaches

We have all experienced headaches, and know the pain that they can cause. They come from our kids, work, school, and just life in general. While you may get this pounding and awful pain occasionally, there are millions of people in the US who get these headaches chronically, and even more that suffer from migraines that are not only painful, but also debilitating. There are many things that you can do at home to help you reduce some of the pain from these headaches, and also help lower the stress in your life. To start off with, try lying down with your eyes closed for about half an hour. Sometimes sleep is the only thing that you can do to get rid of a painful headache, and can help keep them in control by getting rid of them sooner. Turning off the lights and keeping the sun out is another way to help alleviate the pain. Also along these same lines are computer screens, which can trigger headaches as well. Try tuning out stressful thoughts and think of more happy ones. Headaches are commonly caused by stress, and keeping your mind off of the things that stress you out is always a good idea. Exercise will help reduce stress, as well as cutting back on caffeine, alcohol, and smoking. Keeping a detailed headache diary will help you see patterns in your headaches, which will make treatment easier to determine. Many suffer from headaches, but there is relief that can be done right at home. Try some of these methods out and see what works for you.
