People love the sun, and some us love spending all day in it. We use sunscreen, but that only goes so far. So, our skin burns, leaving us with a painful sunburn.
But do we just have to deal with it, or are there things that can be
done to help? Actually, there are many things that can be done to help,
and all of them without spending a ton of money, and staying right at
home. Taking a bath in which baking soda is mixed with cool water, and
soaking for 15-20 minutes, will soothe your burn. Do not stay in any
longer, and do not towel off when you are done. Stay away from salts, bubble baths, and oils. Aloe vera
is one of the best natural remedies. You can take out the redness and
sting with its thick gel-like juice. The plant is available at most
nurseries and can simply be split open and applied straight to the burn.
You can use this gel up to 5 times a day. Applying a cool, damp cloth
directly to the burn, re-wetting to keep it cool, every few minutes will
get rid of some of the pain and soothe the skin. Keeping hydrated by
drinking plenty of water will help the burns heal. The sunburn
caused the skin to become dehydrated while it was being burned, so it
only makes sense to hydrate it in order to soothe the burn. Rubbing a
good moisturizer into the skin will help your skin heal. For even better
relief, put the lotion in the fridge before you apply it. Sunburns
are no fun, as the pain and discomfort that come from them can be
nearly unbearable. These remedies will help the burn go away and relieve
some of the pain. You can reduce some of the suffering.
